This Months Golf Rules

Dropping: When taking relief, the ball must be dropped straight down from knee height by the player or their partner, and it must land within the relief area. The relief area is measured from a reference point, which varies depending on the type of relief. For example, when taking lateral relief for an unplayable ball, the reference point is the ball's current location. Model Local Rules: This rule allows players to find the nearest point of complete relief and measure a one club-length relief area from there. The ball must be dropped and come to rest within the relief area, which is typically used on courses where putting from off the green is likely. Ball moved or deflected: If a ball is moved by an outside influence, like a spectator or animal, it must be replaced without penalty. If a natural force, like wind, water, or gravity, moves the ball, it can usually be played from its new location without penalty. The same is true if the ball is accidentally deflected or stopped while in motion, including if it hits the player's body or equipment.
